Club Members, friends and family are invited to enjoy a day of salmon and trout fishing on Lake Ontario.

This event isn't just for the diehard salmon and trout trollers, it's a chance to get everyone out and shake the winter dust off those rods for the first trip of the season.

Ken Fisher Kids Fishing Fund

The club has a Ken Fisher Kids Fund where we generate moneys to put towards a great cause. Buy rods, reels, tackle and teach children how to fish. In particular we focus on children coming from low income families. Currently in the works, the club is setting alliances with Hamilton fishing clubs (Golden Horseshoe Outdoors club, Stelco Fishing Club, Hamilton Fly Tiers Club…) to host an event through City Kidz of Hamilton in 2012. It is an organization that puts on events for children in Hamilton that might come from low income families. We like to run a fishing day event with guest speakers, have fishing knots workshop, have a littler derby and not only supplying the children with fishing rods, reels, fishing tackle, but also some fishing know-how. Then they can take the fishing stuff home and go out fishing with a little bit of knowledge learnt during the fishing day. The Strait Line Anglers Club will be using the funds through the Ken Fisher Kids Fund to purchase some of the gear the kids will use and tack home with them.

Getting underprivileged kids a chance to explore the world of fishing. Email if you would like to sponsor the fund with cash or new fishing tackle.

Chinook, coho, browns, rainbows and lake trout will compete in the same category. Big lake trout and mature chinooks are common this time of the year.
